History on your doorstep
If you are coming to discover the historic treasures of Banská Bystrica, our guesthouse is the perfect base. Just leave the motorway, park in our car park and set off. SNP Square is just 1.1 km away on foot – with the Town Castle and its Barbican, the Clock Tower and Thurzo House, plus plenty of restaurants, cafés and bars. The Museum of the Slovak National Uprising is nearby too, and on the way you can stop in the City Park.
Culture and entertainment
Ministry of Fun, the largest nightclub in Slovakia, is a 15-minute walk away. We also recommend the Hogo Fogo jazz club. About 300 metres from the guesthouse is the Paľo Bielik Amphitheatre, which hosts many concerts every year. For a quieter evening there is the State Opera or the Puppet Theatre at the Crossroads (Bábkové divadlo na Rázcestí).
Sport and skiing
About 2 kilometres from the guesthouse you will find the SNP Stadium, the city sports hall and the year-round Štiavničky swimming pool; in summer there is the Aqualand beach pool. Skiers use us as a base – Králiky and Kordíky are 10 km away, Šachtičky 12 km, Selce 17 km and Donovaly 25 km.
Shopping
Europa Shopping Center, the largest shopping centre in central Slovakia, is just a kilometre from the guesthouse. You will find more shops at Point shopping centre and on the main square.
Hospital and clinics
Many of our guests come for an appointment at F. D. Roosevelt Hospital, just 1.2 km from us. The Izak Vision Center eye clinic, iClinic (1.5 km) and the Aesthetica plastic surgery clinic are also close by.
Students and schools
We are just 100 metres from the Faculty of Economics of Matej Bel University, 800 metres from the Faculty of Arts and 1.2 km from the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations. Most of the city’s secondary schools are on our street – ideal for students coming for exams or entrance tests.
